Pre-check for Import Permits and Regulated Goods

How to check regulatory status and agency permit requirements before ordering and shipment.

Food, agricultural and aquatic products, chemicals, medical or health-related supplies, and electrical goods may require permits, registrations, or inspections depending on composition and use. Goods sharing a general name can be treated differently because of their materials, purpose, or packaging.

Before confirming an order or shipment, review the Bureau of Customs guidance and the Philippine National Trade Repository (PNTR) for commodity-specific procedures and responsible agencies. Have the product records reviewed by that agency or a qualified customs professional.

What to prepare

  • Precise product name and intended use
  • Composition, material, model, and technical information
  • Proposed HS Code or classification reference
  • Importer registration or accreditation status
  • Permit or clearance agency identified through PNTR
  • Required permit issued before shipment
