Pre-screening for Prohibited and Restricted Goods

Why prohibition and restriction status must be checked before ordering, payment, or shipment.

Prohibited goods generally cannot be imported, while restricted goods require conditions or authorization from a designated agency. Electronics, food, medical-related goods, agricultural and aquatic products, and chemicals may be treated differently according to detailed specifications.

Before paying a supplier or releasing cargo, check BOC and PNTR rules, Permit, Clearance, or Certification procedures, and the responsible agency. Review composition and use rather than relying on a broad product name.

What to prepare

  • Exact product name, composition, use, and quantity
  • BOC guidance on prohibited and restricted imports
  • PNTR procedure and responsible-agency search
  • Importer eligibility and product registration
  • Scope and validity of permits before shipment
  • Carrier-specific acceptance restrictions
